The leagues have announced their Players of the Week, spotlighting two veteran hitters who delivered statement performances over the past seven days.

In the Federal League, Ray Lankford of Kansas City put together an outstanding week at the plate. At age 29, the center fielder hit .414 across six games, collecting 12 hits in 29 at-bats, while adding 3 home runs and 11 RBIs to earn Federal League Player of the Week honors.
On the season, Lankford is batting .315 with 23 hits, 7 home runs, 18 RBIs, and 19 runs scored.

Over in the United League, the marquee name of the week was Hal Morris of the Montreal Expos. The 32-year-old first baseman was relentless, posting a .471 batting average and a .500 on-base percentage. Morris went 8-for-17 with 4 home runs, 7 RBIs, and 5 runs scored, a dominant stretch that secured him United League Player of the Week honors.
Thus far this season, Morris is hitting .329 with 5 home runs.
