The leagues have announced their Players of the Week, recognizing a rising superstar and a proven power hitter who dominated opposing pitching over the past seven days.

In the United League, Alex Rodriguez of the Washington Senators captured Player of the Week honors after a sensational performance. The 21-year-old shortstop showcased his immense talent by batting .500 (11-for-22), blasting 5 home runs and driving in 10 RBIs. Rodriguez continues to flash the tools that suggest he could be a cornerstone player in the league for years to come.

For the season, Rodriguez is hitting .268 with 11 home runs, 24 RBIs, and 40 runs scored.

Over in the Federal League, Frank Thomas of the Minnesota Twins earned Player of the Week honors with a powerful display at the plate. The veteran first baseman hit .412, going 7-for-17, and launched an eye-popping 6 home runs while driving in 9 RBIs.

Thus far this season, Thomas is batting .216 with 16 home runs, 37 RBIs, and 24 runs scored in 50 games — proof that even when the average dips, the power remains very real.

Two leagues, two elite performances — and two hitters who made sure their bats did all the talking last week.
