Rule Update: Base Year Rule

·

·

The Doubleday Baseball League has decided to eliminate the Base Year rule, effective immediately.

Previously, the rule stated:
Players in the first year of a standard contract could not be traded until June 1. This typically applied to players signed during free agency.

After review, the league office has determined that this restriction is no longer in the best interest of the league. The DBL has emphasized in recent years the value of flexibility and movement within the league, and the Base Year rule was found to be inconsistent with that vision.

By eliminating this rule, the DBL reaffirms its commitment to encouraging player movement, competitive balance, and owner creativity in roster construction.
