United League – Chris Brown (Los Angeles Dodgers)
Los Angeles third baseman Chris Brown put together a vintage performance at the plate, earning the United League Player of the Week Award. The 35-year-old veteran hit .474 (9-for-19) with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs, anchoring the Dodgers’ lineup and proving he can still deliver in key moments. On the season, Brown is batting .252 with 23 home runs, continuing to provide valuable production for Los Angeles as the regular season nears its final stretch.
Federal League – Chipper Jones (Texas Rangers)
Texas third baseman Chipper Jones continued his sensational 1996 campaign, claiming the Federal League Player of the Week honors. The 24-year-old slugger batted .455 (10-for-22) with 4 home runs and 11 RBIs, further solidifying his place among the league’s top young hitters. For the year, Jones is hitting .320 with 43 home runs, 122 RBIs, and 104 runs scored—numbers that firmly place him in the MVP conversation.
