For the second straight season, the Buffalo Bisons have claimed the ultimate prize — capturing the 1996 Hugg Baseball League Championship after defeating the Nashville Sounds in a dramatic seven-game series.

The Bisons’ repeat championship solidifies their place as one of the HBL’s modern dynasties, showcasing resilience, depth, and championship pedigree from start to finish.

The series was one for the ages. The Nashville Sounds came out strong, taking the first three games with explosive hitting and clutch late-inning performances. But just as they did all season, Buffalo fought back — refusing to go quietly.

From Game 4 onward, the Bisons mounted a stunning comeback, winning four straight games to take the series and become back-to-back HBL Champions.

The championship was punctuated by an emphatic 11–0 shutout in Game 7, delivering Buffalo their second consecutive HBL title and completing one of the most impressive postseason comebacks in league history.
