Montreal Expos Clinch Wild Card Berth in United League
The Office of the Commissioner of the Doubleday Baseball League today announced that the Montreal Expos have secured a Wild Card berth in the United League playoffs for the 1996 season.
This marks the third straight postseason appearance for Montreal, following back-to-back division titles in 1994 and 1995. It is also the franchise’s ninth overall playoff appearance since joining the league in 1976.
While the Expos fell short of a third consecutive division crown, they once again demonstrated their ability to contend at the highest level, earning their place among the United League’s postseason field.
The Expos will now enter the playoffs as the United League Wild Card representative, looking to build on their recent postseason success and make another deep run.
