The Doubleday Baseball League is proud to announce the winners of the 1996 Most Valuable Player Awards for both the Federal League and the United League, honoring the league’s most outstanding performers of the season.

1996 Federal League Most Valuable Player

Winner: Brian S. Giles (St. Louis Cardinals)
A commanding season from Giles earned him the top honor, finishing with a strong lead in the vote totals.

Runner-Up:

  • Chipper Jones (Texas Rangers)
  • Kevin Brown (Kansas City Royals)

1996 United League Most Valuable Player

Winner: Ken Griffey Jr. (Seattle Mariners)
Griffey’s electrifying season secured him the UL MVP, leading all vote-getters with an impressive performance both at the plate and defensively.

Runner-Up:

  • Pedro Martínez (Montreal Expos)
  • Alex Rodriguez (Washington Senators)
