The Doubleday Baseball League (DBL) is excited to announce a key update to its StatsPlus platform and draft structure, effective immediately.

The 5th round of the amateur draft has been reinstated and is now fully integrated into StatsPlus. All 1996, 1997 and 1998 5th round picks are now visible and eligible for trading.

This move was made in response to the league’s recent reintroduction of AAA-level rosters, ensuring that organizations have access to additional player depth as the league grows. The goal is to provide teams with more talent pipeline options and increase long-term flexibility in roster building.

The league will revisit the inclusion of the 5th round following the conclusion of the 1997 draft to evaluate whether the round will continue beyond the 1998 season.

Additionally, 1999 draft picks are now tradable—with one important exception:

⚠️ Note: While StatsPlus may display 1999 5th round picks, these picks are not eligible for trade. This is a limitation of the StatsPlus system, which automatically generates 5th round slots for future years. Any trade involving a 5th round pick from 1999 or beyond will be rejected outright by the league office.

This update reflects DBL’s commitment to evolving with the needs of its franchises while maintaining a fair and consistent trading environment.
