Orioles Score Late, Upend Mets, 5-3
|
Spirited fans at Shea Stadium greeted the New York Mets for their clash with the Baltimore Orioles.
Baltimore Orioles starter Rod Nichols pitched effectively against the New York Mets at Shea Stadium. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 5-3 win. Nichols got the win, improving to 5-9. He allowed 6 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. Nichols allowed 3 earned runs.
Matt Nokes had a nice at-bat for the Orioles with two out in the top of the eighth. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, the designated hitter hit a 2-run single, which would prove important in the Baltimore win.
"It's a mindset," said Nichols. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
At 32-53, the Orioles are currently last in the United League East Division.
