Spiders Get Road Win, 7-2
|
The Cleveland Spiders got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher John Thomson, but it was good enough for the club to take a 7-2 decision over the New York Yankees. Thomson went the distance for Cleveland. He gave up 2 earned runs on 6 hits. The Spiders bumped their record to 44-42 with this latest triumph.
Todd Hundley made an early impact for Cleveland when he stroked his 27th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came with one out in the top of the first, put the Spiders on top, 3-0.
Hundley told a Cleveland News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
