Expos Win at Detroit, 5-4
|
The Montreal Expos did just enough to sneak past the Detroit Tigers, 5-4, at Tiger Stadium. Montreal pitcher Pat Hentgen earned player of the game honors. In 7 innings, Hentgen surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 4 runs. Ed Correa converted his 13th save in 16 tries.
Jeff Kent gave Montreal a good at-bat in the top of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly to help send Montreal to the win.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Kent said.
Montreal has a 3-game win streak, while Detroit has lost 3 in a row.
