Victory Over White Sox Takes St. Louis to 55-33
In a low-scoring affair between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago White Sox, pitcher Brian S Giles was the difference between victory and defeat. The St. Louis left-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-0 Cardinals win. St. Louis reliever Terry Mulholland got the win, raising his record to 6-6. Shane Reynolds was tagged with the loss. The Cardinals bumped their record to 55-33 with this latest triumph.

Giles had a key at-bat for St. Louis early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 20th home run of the season and gave St. Louis an early 2-0 lead.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Giles told the St. Louis Gazette. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
