Cubs Lose to Royals, 6-4
|
The Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals cranked it up at Royals Stadium.
The Kansas City Royals beat the Chicago Cubs, 6-4, at Royals Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Randy Milligan, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Denny Neagle got the win, improving to 11-4. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 4.
Kansas City took a 5-4 lead on Rick Wilkins's 18th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Wilkins hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Chicago pitcher Tim Davis shaking his head.
"Winning is contagious," said Milligan. "We're looking forward to the next game."
The Royals have an impressive 56-31 record.
