Salmon Helps Rockies Run Win Streak to 4
|
A 3-RBI performance from right fielder Tim Salmon, who finished 2nd in the UL in on-base percentage with .385 last year, led the Colorado Rockies to a 8-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jack McDowell, the winner, improved to 9-5. He held the Dodgers to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 3. Robb Nen got the save, his 4th in 5 chances.
The Rockies took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Facing Los Angeles hurler Roger Clemens with one out, Salmon hit a 3-run home run.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Salmon told the Colorado Daily News.
Colorado has now won 4 straight, while the Dodgers have lost 3 in a row.
