The Washington Senators defeated the Colorado Rockies, 8-6, at RFK Stadium. Washington shortstop Alex Rodriguez was named player of the game for his superb performance. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Senators, now 6-3, have been on a roll in the early going.

Rodriguez had a key at-bat for Washington early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and gave Washington an early 2-0 lead.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Rodriguez said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
