Dominant Performance by Trachsel in Pittsburgh Win
|
In a low-scoring game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Boston Red Sox, pitcher Steve Trachsel was masterful on the mound. The Pittsburgh right-hander was named the player of the game in Pittsburgh's 2-1 win. Bryan Harvey earned his 22nd save in 25 chances. Pittsburgh now has a 3-game win streak.
Trachsel was effective for Pittsburgh, seldom allowing the Red Sox to square up a pitch. The right-hander tossed 115 pitches over 8 innings. He limited Boston to just no runs on 4 hits.
Trachsel pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
