Loss to Senators Extends Detroit Losing Streak
|
Mike Stanley made an impact in the 6-3 Washington win over Detroit. Stanley, who is a four-time All-Star, went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Carlos Perez, who threw 107 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits. Detroit is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for Washington, had it not been for Ruben Rivera, the 21-year old center fielder . Rivera contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Washington up, 5-3.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Rivera. "And not try to do too much."
