Reds Get Close Win Over Devil Rays
|
The Cincinnati Reds eked out a 5-4 win versus the Orlando Devil Rays at Orlando Citrus Bowl. Nobody did more than pitcher Mike Mussina, who captured player of the game honors. Doug Henry earned his 10th save in 19 chances. Cincinnati now has a 3-game win streak.
The Cincinnati win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Scott Rolen. In the top of the eighth, the Cincinnati third baseman came to bat and hit a bases-clearing double. It staked his team to a 5-3 lead.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Rolen told the Cincinnati News. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
