Creams Come Up Short at Minnesota
|
The inspired effort of Milwaukee catcher Tyler Houston was not enough to prevent a 5-4 loss to the Minnesota Twins. Houston was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Pedro Astacio, the winner, improved to 5-7. He held the Creams to 4 earned runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. The last-place Twins raised their record to 39-50.
Had Koji Akiyama not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Akiyama hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Twins.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Akiyama told reporters after the game.
