Cardinals Continue Skid Thanks to James, Cubs
|
The Chicago Cubs bested the St. Louis Cardinals, 8-4, at Wrigley Field. Dion James was named player of the game. He went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Willie Banks earned the win to go to 10-5. He allowed 4 earned runs on 5 hits, with 6 walks and 4 strikeouts. David Weathers notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
James came through with some timely hitting for Chicago. With the score 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth and one down, James hit a full count sinker for a 2-run double. His 19th double of the season made it 6-4, Chicago.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said James.
St. Louis's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
