Yankees Topple Spiders with Late Rally
|
The Cleveland Spiders got a superb performance from pitcher Bob Sebra. Still, it wasn't enough to beat New York. The Yankees won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Sebra was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Mike Henneman, credited with the save, is now 9 for 11 in save opportunities. Even with the win, the Yankees have a dismal 30-61 record.
Quinton McCracken provided some late-game drama. In the top of the ninth, with two out and the bases loaded, McCracken hit a grand slam home run. It helped New York take the lead and grab the win.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said McCracken.
