Toronto beat New York at SkyDome, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to third baseman Dean Palmer, who earned player of the game honors. Toronto reliever David West picked up the win to move to 1-0. Wayne Edwards suffered the loss. The Blue Jays bumped their record to 50-42 with this latest triumph.

With the clubs tied 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth and runners on 2nd and 3rd, center fielder Darrin Jackson hit a sacrifice fly.

"We found a way to get it done," Jackson said.
