Giants Come Back Late to Clip Padres
|
San Francisco beat San Diego at Jack Murphy Stadium, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Scott Sanders, who earned player of the game honors. Randy Myers notched his 17th save in 19 chances. The first-place Giants, at 57-35, now lead their division by 7½ games.
San Francisco grabbed control in the top of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 2nd, Jeff King delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 3-2 in favor of the Giants.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Sanders told the San Francisco Bulletin.
