The San Diego Padres did just enough to sneak past the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-3, at Bank One Ballpark. San Diego pitcher Pete Schourek earned player of the game honors. San Diego reliever Robb Nen picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Bryan Rekar shouldered the loss. With the win, the Padres have a record of 42-50.

With the clubs tied 3-3 in the top of the ninth and a runner on 1st, left fielder Jeff Conine hit a run-scoring double.

"This was a good win," said Conine.
