Multi-HR Day for Brower as Cubs Overpower Twins, 7-4
|
The Chicago Cubs topped the Minnesota Twins by the score of 7-4, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Bob Brower. Brower hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Cubs. The Twins drop to 3-7 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1997 season.
It could have been a different outcome for Chicago, had it not been for Trot Nixon, the 22-year old right fielder . Nixon contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Chicago up, 1-0.
"We take it day by day here," said Nixon, "and today was a good one for us."
