Mets Win at Baltimore, 5-2
|
The New York Mets knocked off the Baltimore Orioles, 5-2. New York starter Tom Glavine pitched well enough to earn top player honors. Glavine went the distance for New York. He gave up 2 earned runs on 5 hits. The Orioles, now 37-55, have lost 4 in a row.
The Mets got a lift from third baseman Phil Nevin who had a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning off Steve Avery. It was his 21st home run of the season and put New York in front, 1-0.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said New York manager Michael Kritikos.
