Giants Walk Off with Win
|
The San Francisco Giants picked up a win at Candlestick Park, knocking off the San Diego Padres, 5-3. Starting pitcher Butch Henry, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. San Francisco is now 52-41.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Craig Shipley came to bat in the bottom of the 12th. Facing San Diego pitcher Shane Reynolds, he hit a first pitch splitter for a 2-run home run. It was a game-changer, putting San Francisco on top, 5-3.
"Exciting game to play in," said Henry. "Getting the win makes it even better."
