Spiders Score Late to Upend Marlins, 6-5
|
The home team gave the League Park fans plenty to cheer about, with a thrilling walk-off win.
Despite a fine performance by catcher Charles Johnson, the Florida Marlins suffered a 6-5 loss to the Cleveland Spiders. Johnson hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Cleveland reliever Willie Banks picked up the win to move to 6-6. Paul Shuey suffered the loss.
Garret Anderson was vital part of the Cleveland win. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times. In the bottom of the ninth with one out, Anderson hit a walk-off solo home run. It made the score 6-5, in favor of the Spiders.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Florida manager Stephen Ginter. "The effort was great."
The Marlins, now 57-37, have lost 5 straight.
