Cardinals Rally For Late Win Over Creams
The St. Louis Cardinals faced a tough opponent in Milwaukee pitcher Todd Van Poppel, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Milwaukee County Stadium by a final score of 3-1. Van Poppel went 9 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. St. Louis reliever Dana Allison was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Todd Van Poppel took the loss for Milwaukee. St. Louis is 4th in the Federal League Central Division with a record of 45-49.

St. Louis catcher Jorge Posada had a key at-bat for the Cardinals in the top of the ninth inning. Facing Milwaukee pitcher Todd Van Poppel, Posada hit a solo home run to make the score 2-1, St. Louis. For the day, he was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Posada told the St. Louis Bulletin. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
