Mets Hapless Against Orioles, Wells
|
Baltimore Orioles starter David Wells turned in an exceptional performance against the New York Mets at Memorial Stadium, resulting in a Baltimore win, 3-1. Roger McDowell notched his 12th save in 16 chances. Baltimore is now 39-55.
Wells, a native of Torrance, California, was dealing all game. He kept New York hitters off-balance, while giving the Orioles 8.1 quality innings. Wells threw 105 pitches, allowing 6 hits and striking out 8.
