Padres Nip Pilots, 2-1
|
The San Diego Padres picked up a win at Jack Murphy Stadium, knocking off the Seattle Pilots, 2-1. On the mound for San Diego was right-hander Bill Gullickson, who played a pivotal role in the win. San Diego now has a 3-game win streak.
Jerry Willard put San Diego in front, 2-0, when he took Todd Van Poppel downtown. His solo home run came with no one out in the bottom of the sixth. It was his 10th home run of the season.
"It feels good to get this one," Willard told the San Diego Observer.
