Great Effort by Everett Wasted in 9-7 Braves Loss
|
Despite a fine performance by left fielder Carl Everett, the Atlanta Braves suffered a 9-7 loss to the Kansas City Royals. Everett belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The winner was Kevin Rogers in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Mark Wohlers took the loss. Mike Stanton notched his 30th save in 33 chances.
Roberto Alomar, who is tied for 8th in the FL in triples with 5, chipped in for Kansas City with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.
"It feels good to get this one," Alomar told the Kansas City Chronicle.
Kansas City has an impressive 75-22 record.
