Smoltz Dazzles in Orlando Win
|
The Orlando Devil Rays got a magnificent performance from pitcher John Smoltz, who muffled the Milwaukee offense en route to a tight 3-1 Devil Rays win at Milwaukee County Stadium. Frank DiPino notched his 7th save in 8 chances. Orlando is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Smoltz delivered a quality start for Orlando. The 6' 3" right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 8 innings of work.
"I had a good game plan," said Smoltz. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Ben Tennyson said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
