Hundley Helps Spiders Run Win Streak to 5
|
The Cleveland Spiders grabbed a 7-3 win over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Cleveland catcher Todd Hundley went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once to earn player of the game honors. Bob Sebra got the win, improving to 7-8. He worked 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 6. The 4th-place Spiders have won 5 consecutive games.
Hundley contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Cleveland in the top of the seventh. With his team trailing 2-1, Hundley took a fastball from Mike Dunne and stroked the home run to right-center. His 29th home run of the season allowed the Spiders to leap in front, 5-2.
Hundley called the win "a collective effort."
