Cubs Walk It Off for 47th Win of Season
|
Chicago overcame a superlative game from Bret Saberhagen to beat Cleveland, 4-3. The Cleveland pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 10 innings of 4-hit ball. With the win, Chicago goes to 47-50, while the Spiders fall to 50-48.
Chicago third baseman Scott Cooper had a key at-bat for the Cubs in the bottom of the 11th inning. Facing Cleveland pitcher Steve Karsay, Cooper hit a sacrifice fly to make the score 4-3, Chicago. For the day, he drove in one run.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Cooper.
