Pilots Take Tight Tilt, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring game between Seattle and Washington, pitcher Alex Fernandez was excellent. The Seattle right-hander was named the player of the game in Seattle's 2-1 win. Alan Embree was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 6 save opportunities. The Pilots raised their record to 51-46.
It could have been a different outcome for Seattle, had it not been for Ken Griffey Jr., the three-time Gold Glove winner . Griffey Jr. contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Seattle up, 2-0.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Seattle skipper Robert O'Neill. "I can't complain."
