Big Day for Strawberry as Spiders Down White Sox, 10-6
|
With left fielder Darryl Strawberry leading the charge, the Cleveland Spiders defeated the Chicago White Sox, 10-6, at Comiskey Park. Strawberry, who finished 5th in the FL in stolen bases with 67 in 1992, went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Ron Robinson earned the win to go to 12-7. He allowed 6 earned runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Cleveland, at 46-53, sits in third place in the Federal League East Division.
In the top of the first, Strawberry pounced on a 2-1 fastball from Jose Nunez and hit a 2-run home run. It put Cleveland on top, 2-0.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Strawberry said. "We did a good job of that today."
