Sun Rays Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Spirited fans at Yankee Stadium greeted the New York Yankees for their clash with the Orlando Sun Rays.
The Orlando Sun Rays used an offensive barrage to beat the New York Yankees, 10-2, at Yankee Stadium. Phil Plantier led the way, going 2-for-4 for Orlando. The Yankees drop to 5-5 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1995 season.
Orlando used the timely hitting of Craig Biggio to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sun Rays on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Sun Rays manager Ben Tennyson. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
