In a tight battle between the Colorado Rockies and the Montreal Expos, pitcher Jason Schmidt was in the zone. The Colorado right-hander was named the player of the game in Colorado's 3-0 win. Colorado, now 45-54, holds 5th place in the United League West Division.
Colorado took a 3-0 lead on Damion Easley's 17th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Montreal pitcher Pat Hentgen in the bottom of the seventh.
