Victory Pushes Expos Record to 64-36
|
Montreal starter Jon Lieber put a stranglehold on the Colorado offense. The right-hander had complete command of his sinker in leading the Expos to a 2-1 win. In 7 innings, Lieber surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. With the victory, the Expos record now stands at 64-36.
Flexing his muscles for Montreal was Hal Morris. The first baseman had a solo home run in the top of the sixth for the Expos. It put his team ahead, 2-1, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Morris was 1 for 4 with a home run.
"The old adage is true," said Lieber. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
