Appier Dominant in Florida Win
|
Florida right-hander Kevin Appier was sensational in shutting out the Minnesota Twins, 1-0. Bryan Harvey was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 28 of 34 save opportunities. Florida goes to 61-40. The win puts them 4 games up in their division.
Appier, who dominated for Florida, earned the victory to move to 11-7. He was in control the whole game, scattering 1 hit over 8 innings, while striking out 6. Minnesota batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
In postgame comments to the Florida Chronicle, Appier said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
