Pirates Win in Glorious Fashion
St. Louis left fielder Brian S Giles was sensational. He went 4 for 7 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Pittsburgh beat the Cardinals, 11-10. Giles was named the player of the game despite the loss. Reliever Bryan Harvey picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Terry Mulholland took the loss. Pittsburgh, at 58-42, sits in second place in the Federal League East Division.

The Pittsburgh triumph was a team effort. Not least among the contributors was Craig Shipley. In the bottom of the 12th, the Pittsburgh left fielder hit a walk-off run-scoring double. It staked his team to a 11-10 lead.

"I'm glad this one's going in the books as a 'W'," Shipley said.
