Spiders Need Extra Frames to Get Past Royals
|
The Cleveland Spiders picked up a win at Royals Stadium, knocking off the Kansas City Royals, 5-4. Starting pitcher John Thomson played a key role in the triumph. Steve Cooke, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities. The Royals, at 61-39, have lost 5 straight games.
Todd Hundley made it 5-4 in favor of Cleveland when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with two out in the top of the 11th. The Spiders went on to win.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Kansas City manager Daniel Drucker.
