Senators Sneak Past Giants, 6-5
|
The Washington Senators scored a 6-5 win versus the San Francisco Giants at RFK Stadium. Washington pitcher Chad Ogea nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. The win was credited to Greg McMichael in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Jim Poole took the loss. At 54-46, the Senators find themselves in third place in the United League East Division.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Washington designated hitter Fred McGriff, facing Jim Poole, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Senators the 6-5 win.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Alexander Cumana, the Washington skipper.
