Cardinals Get Close Win Over Reds
St. Louis Cardinals starter Rene Arocha was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Cincinnati Reds, 3-2. The win was credited to Dana Allison in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Doug Henry took the loss. Rusty Meacham, credited with the save, is now 2 for 3 in save opportunities.

St. Louis used the timely hitting of Gerald Young to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cardinals on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"Rene is tough when he's hitting his spots," said St. Louis manager Adam Rabel.

The 'W' lifts St. Louis's record to 48-53.
