White Sox Win at St. Louis, 3-1
|
Chicago White Sox starter Bruce Ruffin turned in an exceptional performance against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium, resulting in a Chicago win, 3-1. Ruffin went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-2. The White Sox, now 3-8, have not found much traction so far in 1994.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Robby Thompson to capture the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the White Sox on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Chicago manager Dustin Hafler.
