The Kansas City Royals picked up a win at Royals Stadium, knocking off the Cleveland Spiders, 4-3. Starting pitcher Kevin Brown was an essential part of his team's success. Kansas City is now 62-39, 3½ games up in the Federal League Central Division.

Roberto Alomar was the walk-off hero for Kansas City. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Royals second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.

"This place sure got loud," said Daniel Drucker, the Kansas City manager.
