Nixon Helps Cubs Run Win Streak to 6
|
The Chicago Cubs topped the Cleveland Spiders, 8-3, with right fielder Trot Nixon playing a big role. Nixon went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Cubs in the win. The Cubs, at 52-51, have now won 6 straight.
Nixon came through with some timely hitting for Chicago. With the score 3-3 in the top of the eighth and one down, Nixon hit a 2-2 fastball for a 2-run double. His 17th double of the season made it 5-3, Chicago.
"I like how we're playing right now," said Nixon.
