Twins Lose to Devil Rays, 3-2
|
The Orlando Devil Rays picked up a win at Metrodome, knocking off the Minnesota Twins, 3-2. Starting pitcher Jimmy Key was an essential part of his team's success. Key, now 11-8, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. Wes Gardner earned his 6th save in 10 chances.
It could have been a different outcome for Orlando, had it not been for Tim Salmon, the two-time All-Star . Salmon contributed a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Orlando up, 3-2.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Salmon said after the game.
The Devil Rays bumped their record to 55-47 with this latest triumph.
