Senators Solve Pilots, 5-2
|
The Washington Senators got a stellar effort from pitcher Jose DeLeon, helping Washington score a 5-2 win over the visiting Seattle Pilots. DeLeon picked up the win for Washington, going 8.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 4-13. Todd Jones got the save, his 4th in 6 chances.
The Senators beat the Pilots with some clutch hitting. The home run by Brian R. Hunter in the bottom of the third is a good example. With two down, Hunter gave his team the lead, 4-2, when he came through with the big hit.
Hunter called the win "a collective effort."
Even with the win, the Senators have a dismal 32-70 record.
