Tigers Win 2-1 Walk-Off
|
The Detroit Tigers did just enough to sneak past the Colorado Rockies, 2-1, at Tiger Stadium. Detroit pitcher Felipe Lira earned player of the game honors. Even with the win, the Tigers have a dismal 33-69 record.
Ben Grieve swatted a solo home run for Detroit in the bottom of the ninth. The designated hitter went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 1.
"We played hard and won," said Lira. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
