Montreal starter Mark Guthrie kept the Oakland hitters in check, helping his team cruise to a 9-1 win. Montreal improves to 65-37 with the win. They lead their division by 3 games.

Guthrie, who dominated for Montreal, earned the victory to move to 15-1. He was in control the whole game, scattering 3 hits over 8.1 innings, while striking out 9. Oakland batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.

Expos manager David Polakoff had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."
