Padres Continue Skid Thanks to Hrbek, Orioles
|
The Baltimore Orioles knocked off the San Diego Padres, 6-2, at Memorial Stadium. Kent Hrbek, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Baltimore won. The first baseman was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Baltimore has 3 straight wins, San Diego 4 straight losses.
Baltimore designated hitter Lyle Mouton had a key at-bat for the Orioles in the bottom of the seventh inning. Facing San Diego pitcher Calvin Schiraldi, Mouton hit a 2-run home run to make the score 5-2, Baltimore. For the day, he went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Mouton told the Baltimore Daily News.
