Arizona Diamondbacks starter Scott Karl turned in a top-notch performance against the Detroit Tigers at Tiger Stadium. The result was a win for the Diamondbacks, 3-2. Arizona leads the United League West Division by 3 games.

In the top of the seventh inning with one out, Arizona designated hitter Moises Alou hit a run-scoring double. It made the score 3-1, Diamondbacks. For the day, Alou went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles.

"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Karl told the Arizona Observer. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
